[Link] | Been to Sugoicon, since it's, like, 15-20 minutes from the house. And since all my moving was taken care of beforehand for once. Even though I only went on Sunday, managed to do the typical con things, watch some anime, some AMVs, check out the artist alley, take pictures of cosplayers, buy way too much (read: buying even one thing right now), and have a burrito for lunch. Amazingly even though Sundays are always low energy at cons, I have been sapped of strength by only a few hours.

[Link] | Back home now, more or less (there's hardly a thing in my apartment now). Talk about Mr. Success. D:
But hopefully this will be temporary and I'll be engineering it up and with an even better (located) place.

[Link] | I finished a painting today. a sorta still life, but since girl in the icon was used as a piece, it's also a portrait. I love things that are multiples things being themseves
It's very chromatic. I shall have to take a picture and post it soon, but right now as I'm still in the middle of moving, I gotta load up the (paid-off) car and take a bunch of shelves and things to storage!

Rifftrax Last night was fun, seeing a movie with people all over the country live while Mike Kevin and Bill made fun of it. It's also pretty neat that this was the first time miz_anneliese had seen Plan 9, or Johnathan Coulton. psew psew psew! Harry Mason had more gun training than that guy.

Books read an interesting book the other day "Self Made Man" by Norah Vincent. She decides to crossdress for 18 months and go to "men's places" like bowling alleys, strip clubs, monesteries, etc. "as a man" to see what it was like for (white) guys these days. I enjoyed it, esp since I know I'm very much not a "masculine" type guy the book actually gave me a lot of pointers (to take or not as I wish) on being a man. But the main conclusion she drew was that being a man is pretty damn hard, due to everyone's (men's, women's, their own) expectations of them. Crazily enough when she was dating women as a man, she developed a touch of misagyny (and not in a "self-hate" way) over the way women would judge and objectify men, but developed it into more of an understanding that a lot of current gender roles are just dumb on all sides. At any rate, I highly highly recommend the book.

What I did on my summer vacation CON REPORT by Kayotics, Age: lots and not lots Tuesday, I drove, and drove and drove and drove. Got to Dezfez's and rested.
Wednesday we ran around to Staples to try and upgrade her computer's memory...which caused her computer to not work...but when we took the memory back out, it worked. It was weird. So instead I fixed up her tv so it could have the dvd, wii, ps2 and potentially the xbox all be plugged in. Also while at staples we spotted the new Wacom tablet and at a crazylow price, but decided toil after the con to get it. Then I introduced Dez to Lord Vega's Let's Play Silent Hill Blind series, cuz it's both hilarious and refreshing to see the series anew, although we only got through about half of the first game that day.
Thursday, I break my laptop by it falling when I tried to plug it into the wall. What's wrong is the power cord now cannot plug into the laptop itself to give it power, or charge the battery. So I have only a half hour of life left in it (last night I used a half hour to transfer all the data I new was on it but not my desktop). Might be repairable, might not. I did get it working for a little while (the power) and we went to go to Somerset NJ for the con. Alas, laptop got gravited around AGAIN taking luggage to room and was pretty caput. The room however was nice (though the one last year was ultrafab, what with a big screen tv and plugs for consoles/laptops and free wireless net((and actually a hefty price tag))) and a lot like rooms at past cons like Katsucon and Animazment: one big bed and a regular tv. The internet was pretty much a moot point for us....though I think had we wireless we could have gotten the consoles online at least. but they gave us cookies upon checking in and everything esle was lovely and classy. We settled in, got food (Boston Market yummy), got badges, then retired to watch Season 3 of the venture Bros. Or maybe that was the next night.
CON DAY FRIDAY WOke up, got breakfast at IHOP (Dez's first time) and saw the Super Mario Super Panel which was cool and everyone did the Mario. Then we checked out the dealers room and artist's alley, where I finally got to meet Karn (who be the awesome). Kay herself got a portrait doneby KArn and was decked out as PHiddy (which meant I had pure chaos linked with a stupid helmet=laptop death). We also checked out Uncle Yo, but not FAKE? cuz of the line and the desire for dinner.
CON DAY SATURDAY involved a lot more panels (basically anything by these two cool folks from something called Comic Timing Podcast , more dealers room/artist alley shenanigans, and actually seeing an episode of anime (Claymore, in our room, while we rested up some). Also watched The Strangerhood while we had dinner. We then did more panels (Adult Swim stuff) instead of the Masquerade since we hate big lines and figured we'd be missing a lot of jokes (oh something funny about Death Note!....yeah....) But we did see also debut panels about "ole timie (80's-90's) animes and "Anime Parlement" where you could prosecute cases of anime and video game characters, like it was determined Bowser is the good guy and Princess Peach is a drug kingpin...and Solid Snake was "touched in a bad place" by his Col. (did I mention it was 18+?) I tried to bring up a case for Pyramid HEad, but it was the wrong crowd.
CON DAY SUNDAY....we find the right crowd in the Survival Horror panel where everyone talked about scary games and were nerds and it was FUN. And AN is great because of instead of being pretty dead by noon, still had some intereting thing into the afternoon....most years. So instead we kidnapped Karn and her sister from the artist alley and played Rock Band. And yes....sea mammals died again. And then, at dinner at Ruby Tuesday's...we saw the entire guest list of the the con come in to eat, which was cool.
So, I was really really good in the dealer's room this year...only buying two series (Vandread & Claymore), and a t-shirt.
but my tale continues...Monday we clean and packed up, then checked out and went on a LONG trek from burritos There was no chipotle locatable in the area so I suggested Qdoba, being similar and (I thought) close by. Getting or food we headed back to eat and finally see the rest of the Let's Plays. We actually got through all of SH2 in one night.
Tuesday we went back to staples to get Dez her tablet...which meant I was given hers because she is JUST TOO COOL AND GENEROUS AND AMAZING. We also watched the season finale of Doctor who since I've turned her into a fangirl, but it was sad, so then we watched Freakazoid, which was hilarious, until we were too tired to take anymore.
Wednesday I drove back. and drove and drove and drove.
So now I'm back, minus a laptop but plus a Wacom tablet.

Full night I was BUSY last night. First I went to "Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School" which was basically a like a small coffeehouse/bar....but with a model you could draw. It was awesome, and great to do more of "my style" artings, where I blow up a section of the model HUGELY on the paper and then only put down a few stiff lines to practically abstract her...yet you can still make out what it is (usually, on the successful ones, or the unsuccessful ones where I put in too many lines). I was so intent on getting there at 7:30 I didn't grab anything to eat, so I avoided anything to drink too, the whole "alcohol on an empty stomach thing". I actually was social and talked with a few people too. (Although no girls except the organizers...d'oh). Then around 9:30ish, I knew Aaron's band was going to be playing so I thought I'd head out...but just then the clothed model went...not, and I thought "oh I can do a couple more drawings" ;D BUt then I ran out of paper so I had to get going.
SO I grabbed some McD's (thx dollar menu!) and made my way up to cincyproper to meet up with Anneliese & co. And there had a couple beers, listened to excellent live music (the second band's lead singer was hot!) and talked with a wide range of people for way too late.
So good night! But it did mean I Just woke up. :B

Art Museum Man, been neglecting this. Have found Twitter AND facebook XD;;
Anyway, this past saturday got to see the neato surrealism/dadaist exhibition at the Cincy Art Museum. Only place in the country it's being shown on the world tour. Got to see "Bicycle Wheel" and "Fountain" close up. As well as some Dali, Pollock, and a name that people into BJD and/or Silent Hill 2 *should* recognize: Hans Belmer. XD

AUGH HIGH SCHOOL FRENCH CLASS <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7IiLZ0dvDWU&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7IiLZ0dvDWU&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
We had such interesting French teachers too. Ms. Fox wold actually taught us he French version on the bleep words. (And she just ran for a public office around here) And then there was Ms. Mangraracina who had a (what I thought) cool haircut where half was loooong, and half was shoulder length. We called he Grape-Eater cuz that's what her name translated into (from Itallian).
And yet I remember suelment un pue du Francais. Not that they were really bad...I just don't seem to have a brain wired for multiple languanges.
Then there was Cornflake our history teacher....except now I have NO IDEA what her real name was.

Ground Gears "Nobody cares!" In paint, red, blue, and yellow are the primary colors to create any other color, combining all gives you black. In light, red, blue, and green are the primary colors, combining all give you white.
I have no beef with the white black thing, but the green yellow thing, to me, is another sign of shoddy universe design, like how Pi =\= 3
